Decking & Wood Cleaning

Description: Weathered, green-tinged timber thoroughly cleaned, stripped of slippery algae, and restored to a rich, natural wood finish.

What it involves

How we approach decking and wood cleaning

Timber decks, pergolas, and fencing take a proper beating from the British weather, turning a dull, slippery grey as algae, moss, and dirt take hold. Left unchecked, moisture rots the timber and makes it dangerously slick underfoot. Replacement is a costly business and usually unnecessary.

We clear off surface debris, apply a dedicated wood cleaner to break down organic growth and ingrained grime, gently wash the timber down without splintering the grain, and can finish with a protective oil or stain to keep the weather out.

01

Algae and moss removal

Grooves and hidden corners are scraped, treated, and cleared of slick organic build-up.

02

Gentle wash down

Softwood and hardwood require a controlled pressure and specialist nozzles to clean thoroughly without tearing the wood fibers.

03

Drying and prep

Timber must be completely dry right through before applying oils or stains.

04

Protective treatment applied

A nourishing oil or durable stain is brushed in to restore natural colour, nourish the timber, and repel water.

Why it matters

Restores natural beauty

The transformation from green, blackened timber to clean, rich wood completely revitalises your outdoor space.

Keeps surfaces safe underfoot

Removing slimy moss and algae eliminates dangerous slip hazards, making your decking safe to walk on year-round.

Extends timber lifespan

Regular cleaning and re-oiling prevents rot, stops splitting, and adds years to the life of your timber.

What is included

Also available for commercial premises

Wood cleaning and maintenance works brilliantly for commercial venues. Pub beer gardens, hotel terraces, park boardwalks, and outdoor restaurant seating can all be restored to a safe, welcoming standard without the huge expense of replacing timber structures. Out-of-hours and weekend working is no trouble at all to minimise disruption to your patrons.

Common questions

Decking & wood cleaning FAQs

Will high-pressure washing damage my wooden deck?

It certainly can if done improperly. That is why we use tailored wood-cleaning solutions combined with low-pressure, fan-jet washing to lift dirt and algae gently without gouging, stripping, or splintering the timber.

Yes, we clean all types of composite decking using specialist detergents that remove surface grime, mildew, and stubborn spots without discolouring or scratching the synthetic boards.

It depends on the weather, but timber usually needs 24 to 48 hours of dry conditions after a wash before any stain or oil can be brushed in properly.

We recommend a deep clean and protective top-up every 12 to 18 months to stop algae taking hold and to keep the wood protected against damp and UV fade.
